How She Wears It With Molly Nutter

Molly Nutter-Naylon is a fashion industry vet in the truest sense. Having spent years at Barney’s New York, in the retailer’s heyday, Molly helped shape and define the iconic store’s point of view. Constantly on the hunt for new and inspiring designers, Molly developed her expert eye for style. She then spent time at Phoebe Philo’s Céline, as US Buying Director and amassed an enviable collection of pieces from the brand, before decamping from New York to Austin, TX to serve as President of ByGeorge, the city’s top luxury multi-brand specialty shop.

Molly embraced Austin living with open arms, with near-daily swims at Barton Springs and status as a regular at Jeffrey’s and Pecan Square Cafe - two of ATX’s best spots. But it’s her personal style, in her words, she’s “a tomboy before anything else,” that caught our attention: as President of a store that stocks brands like High Sport, Dries van Noten, The Row, and Loewe, we’re not at all surprised.

“My closet is full of trousers, striped shirts, oversized tailored jackets, and loafers. That said, I am not a minimalist - I have wildly amazing pieces I’ve picked up over the years that I love to mix in with my day to day,” she said. Her taste in jewelry is equally as eclectic, “I look for pieces that are timeless and can be worn every day, and if I’m going to make an investment it’s nice for there to be something poignant or meaningful about the piece. My locket is all of that, and so chic. I wear it every day - usually layered and tangled with my other favorite pieces.”

As she’s getting ready for fall and (hopefully) cooler weather in Austin, she’s gearing up for a busy season at ByGeorge. From launching the Zegna x Elder Statesman collaboration, to welcoming mega-stylist Clare Richardson’s vintage destination, Reluxe, with a mini pop-up, and orchestrating the opening of La Embajada, a new home and lifestyle concept in partnership with Raul Cabra, founder of Oxifornia. We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for all of this, from one of Austin’s most stylist residents.
