HOW SHE WEARS IT

HOLIDAY SEASON STYLE
Around Brentwood with Tommy Ton

I've always admired Tommy; he's a total gem.  Back in 2010, he and my husband Todd were featured in Vogue's digital feature "Logged On," along with Bryan Boy, Garance Dore, and other bloggers of the time, and Todd introduced us.  Tommy always came to my shows when I worked in fashion as a Creative Director of Edun. We've always kept in touch, but I've mostly admired and been influenced by his imagery from afar.  It wasn't until I launched Sherman Field five years ago that we really reconnected.
Not only is he unbelievably kind, but his eye is also so sharp, so quick to capture a moment, a feeling, a vibe that may have just been a split second in time.  With his keen eye, he frames little moments, and we're left with images that have helped shape fashion as we know it, not to mention the whole Street Style concept. With his blog Jak & Jil, and by shooting outside fashion shows for Style.com (now Vogue.com), Tommy was one of the original pioneers of Street Style photography and, what myself and many think, a documentarian of fashion and its influence on our time.

HOW I LIKE TO WEAR DIAMONDS
With Chunky Knits + Classic Tailoring

Ever since we launched our photo lockets and our heavy, chunky chain links, I've desired to work with both princess-cut and pave-cut diamonds.  For our lockets, it was a client who, being an interior designer herself, asked for a diamond on her locket.  Always having a penchant for mixing squares and rounds together as well as precious stones (diamonds) with semi-precious hard stones (Nephrite Jade, Onyx, and others), we added a princess-cut diamond in a square bezel, incorporating this juxtaposition of shapes. This new design inspired a small capsule collection - a double ring with this deco-like design and larger, round, semi-precious, and precious stone studs.  Pairing these high-polished, sparkly pieces with a textured knit, a classic vintage DKNY jacket, and some Kallmeyer trousers, this felt right. When wearing anything with diamonds, having the contrast of classic tailoring and some chunky sweaters or shells always makes something that may feel more fem more relatable.

ROYAL TENENBAUMS, LEGGINGS, LOAFERS, DIAMONDS
And San Vicente Foods

Not only do chunky knits do the trick, but a shearling jacket or coat worn with some leggings, loafers, and diamonds is something I feel comfortable wearing.  When I found this old Celine coat a la Gwyneth Paltrow Royal Tenenbaums on the RealReal, I knew it would pair well with leggings and loafers.  And, yes, living in LA, you cannot escape a legging life; there comes a time and a place when you embrace it.  Whether it's a Maria McManus Recycled Nylon legging or some of the old Celine ones paired with some mensy-loafters, these warm colors, techy and knubby textures work well with our 18k yellow gold pave-set diamonds and yellow gold chains.  And, when we spotted this textured wall outside of San Vicente Foods, we took the opportunity to snap some pics.

HOW I MIX CHAIN LINKS
PLAYING WITH PROPORTION + SCALE WITH CHAINS

I've always been keen on playing with proportion and scale when it comes to fashion and jewelry.  We saw Prada in this last collection pairing an oversized Carhart-like parka over a fringed skirt (as Tommy shared with me).  We expressed our shared adoration for this mix of the unexpected and a mix of scale and proportion.  Wearing a very holiday look of a velvet camisole with some velvet trousers, I have paired our ID Tag Chain with our classic Double Box Chain and two textured medallions - our small circle barre texture with our medium square pyramid texture.

RUBY TASSELS FOR HOLIDAY

I've always loved a tassel. However, having researched tassels far and wide, finding ones that looked and felt full while being light enough on the ear was challenging. After nine months in development, we landed on our precious stone tassels that can convert from a Pendant into Tassel Earrings (with Huggies or with our Stone Round Studs) or a classic 1930's 1930s-inspired Sautoir Chain. And, to tie this back to our collection, the tassel's cap's design echoes our triple link; one of our links was part of our very first chain links when we launched Sherman Field in 2021.

MIXING UP YOUR WRIST GAME
PLAYING WITH PROPORTION + SCALE WITH CHAINS

Anyone who knows me knows I've been wearing my Double Box Chain Bracelet every day since we launched this new link.  However, on some days, I like to add a new chain that either differs in scale or proportion or application (allover gold or pave-set diamonds). As shown here, I found pairing our newer ID Tag Chain link with our Double Box offered something new.
